Nazrin Choudhury

Nazrin is the youngest of five children born to first-generation Bangladeshi parents in Britain. She studied Biomedical Science at King’s College London and graduated with a BSc Hons with a view to becoming a doctor but became a writer instead.


Nazrin is a writer-producer who has written for several primetime UK television shows including Casualty, Coronation Street, Doctors, Eastenders and Waterloo Road. She is the recipient of a "Focus on Talent" award with DNA Films and was awarded a scholarship by Channel4/Film 4 to study for an MA in Screenwriting at the Northern Film School. Additionally, Nazrin is the recipient of the Imison award for her critically-acclaimed play, Mixed Blood, and an Arts Council of England award for her novel, My England.


Nazrin now proudly counts “American” amongst her list of identities and nationalities. She is a graduate of the Writers Guild of America’s Showrunners Training Program. Her most recent US credits include: Jack Ryan, Wayward Pines, Damien, Houdini & Doyle, Damnation and Blood & Treasure.


In addition to her writing career, Nazrin has held administrative positions within the university setting and in the political field. She has previously served on the Board of Governors for the Local Education Authority and The Society Authors and is involved with BAFTA’s community outreach program providing mentorship and training for students in South LA as well as running her own storytelling workshops in schools and professional settings across the UK and in Los Angeles.

Nazrin has participated in panels for the WGA’s Writers’ Bootcamp and mentors a number of emerging writers. She is currently an active member of the WGA’s Equity and Inclusion Committee and also serves on the BAFTA Los Angeles’ New Talent Committee. Nazrin has served as a chair and a guest speaker on panels. Most recently, she was invited as a guest speaker by the Royal Film Commission in Jordan where she also served as a jury member for the Jordan Film Fund’s Grants in the TV Series category.
